Directions· Multiple Choice Questions

In the following problems, you are given four answers. Choose the right answer.

There is only ONE correct answer to each question.

A classroom has 18 chairs in three rows. Each row has one more chair than the row in front of it. How many chairs does the back row have?

  1. 8
  2. 7
  3. 6
  4. 5
Show answer

Correct answer: B. 7

Why

Let the front row = x, middle = x+1, back = x+2; sum = 3x+3 = 18, so x = 5, back row = 7.
