Read the following passage, then choose the best answer to each of the questions that follow.
There is only ONE correct answer to each question.
(1) Dr. Dianne Grey was a general practitioner. She used to work in the south of England. She was a successful doctor with a good career and a comfortable life. Treating patients with routine medical problems such as colds, sore throats, and so on appeared to her to be rather boring. She felt she could do something more important.
(2) She decided to join "Doctors Without Frontiers" which is a volunteer medical organization that provides emergency health care in several African countries. For the last eight months she has been living in Angola.
(3) Her organization has been sending medical teams and equipment to Angola since 1986. With militant groups fighting each other, the standards of health care there have grown worse and worse. Outside the cities there are not enough hospitals, doctors, or nurses, and disease has become a major problem.
(4) Dr. Grey has been working hard to improve conditions there. She has treated thousands of patients and has trained local people to be health care workers. Although she has never felt so useful before, she is leaving Angola but with a determination to return as soon as possible.
The main role of "Doctors Without Frontiers" is to:
- supply food for the poor.
- treat ill people.
- provide shelter for people.
- train families.
