Directions

Read the following questions. Choose the right answer.

There is only ONE correct answer to each question.

If we divide a sea star (Asteroidea – Echinoderms) into equal halves and leave them in the sea, each half will:

  1. continue to divide and then decompose
  2. develop into a new animal
  3. continue to live in its new shape
  4. start repairing the damage using a shell
Show answer

Correct answer: B. develop into a new animal

Why

Many sea stars have strong regenerative ability, and a surviving half containing enough of the central disc can regrow the missing arms into a whole new animal.
