Read the following questions. Choose the right answer.
There is only ONE correct answer to each question.
The solution set of the equation |x−2| = 2−x is:
- (−∞, 2]
- (−∞, 4]
- [0, 2]
- [0, 4]
Show answer
Correct answer: A. (−∞, 2]
Why
|x−2| = 2−x requires 2−x ≥ 0 (i.e. x ≤ 2), and for x ≤ 2, |x−2| = 2−x is automatically true — so the solution set is all x ≤ 2, i.e. (−∞, 2].
